We're delighted to announce that the National Citizen Service has joined the Skills Builder Partnership!
We're proud to announce that National Citizen Service has joined the Skills Builder Partnership to further boost the next generation of NCS. The Skills Builder Framework is perfectly positioned to help the 100,000 young people taking part in NCS every year to understand and develop the eight essential skills that will underpin success for them at every stage of their lives. These eight skills are already central to what NCS aims to achieve and this partnership will bring this into even greater focus. These are the skills which employers, colleges and universities are looking for in young people and building this work and life readiness is a shared goal of both organisations. As well as reinforcing the common language of the skills needed for future success, the partnership will equip each NCS cohort with resources for building these skills through approaches such as guided reflections and personal goal-setting.
About the National Citizen Service
NCS is a government backed programme established in 2011 to help build a more cohesive, mobile and engaged society. By bringing together young people from different backgrounds for a unique shared experience, NCS helps them to become better individuals, and in turn better citizens.
NCS is open to 16 and 17 year-olds across England and Northern Ireland. The two to four week programme, which takes place in school holidays, includes outdoor team-building exercises, a residential for participants to learn ‘life skills’, a community-based social action project and an end of programme celebration event.
To date:
● Almost 500,000 young people have taken part
● Twelve and a half million hours of community action have been completed
