Bal Bharati Public School, Rohini located in the north west district of Delhi, India serves 3000 students. The school motto "Hanso Nayatu Naha Pragyam" is depicted in the image of a child astride a soaring swan. The motto means, "Ey swan, give us education", and make us move constantly to newer heights of learning and excellence. Inaugurating the commencement of the Skills Builder Global Accelerator program within our educational institution, our esteemed faculty underwent a comprehensive training regimen meticulously curated by the distinguished Skills Builder team. Following this immersive training, our visionary Skills Leaders collaborated with faculty members across various academic domains to devise supplementary activities aimed at fortifying skill acquisition. Embracing a culture of recognition and celebration, our institution has placed a concerted emphasis on rewarding appreciation certificates to the students in morning assemblies, seamlessly intertwining acknowledgment with both internal and external projects and programs.
Start early, keep going
The skills Builder program was initiated in July and involved all the learners from grades I – XII. From the inception of grade 1 through the culmination of grade 12, the pioneering Skills Builder Program unfurled a comprehensive educational journey. Lesson plans tailored to ensure development of the eight essential skills were prepared by the facilitators. The activities revolved around students’ daily experiences such as morning assemblies, class discussions, role plays etc. Anchored in the profound conviction that the seeds of skill mastery flourish best when sown in the fertile soil of early development, the school embarked on a visionary mission. At the tenderest of ages, the institution set its sights on nurturing and refining the fundamental building blocks of proficiency. It thus heralded the advent of the Barclays Program, igniting a transformative odyssey right from the pre-school echelon. The parents’ orientation program is a testament to our effort of involving all stakeholders in the journey of building essential skills in our learners and preparing them to be future ready.

Assessing the pinnacle of skill attainment stands as an imperative precursor to crafting meticulous strategies and guaranteeing the zenith of skill evolution. With a steadfast commitment to this ethos, skills were seamlessly interwoven into the tapestry of every subject's curriculum, spanning the breadth of all academic tiers. Students of grades I- V were engaged in Homezone activities thus empowering them to assess themselves. They were made to fill the essential skills record which became an effective tool for the teacher to assess the level of skill development of each learner. Students of grades VI- XII used the benchmark and launchpad to assess their level of achievement of each skill. Empowered by the synergistic trio of Homezone, Launchpad, and Benchmark platforms, students navigated their educational voyage with adeptness and finesse, thereby epitomizing the harmonious fusion of innovation and efficacy.
Focus tightly
The skills builder program is being effectively conducted on a regular basis in curricular and co-curricular activities under the guidance of the stalwart Core Committee of the Skills Builder program, a coterie of esteemed educators handpicked from diverse departments. Each committee member ensures the seamless conduct of lessons in consonance with the school calendar of activities. The zero period every Wednesday has been assigned for the conduct of Skill builder activities for the students of middle and senior department, while Thursdays have been assigned to the Primary grades. The teachers are dutifully apprised of the Skill Builder Usage Report, a testament to the program's commitment to transparency and efficacy.
Keep practising
To achieve this principle, consistency reigned supreme. Each endeavour, meticulously planned and flawlessly executed, became a cornerstone in our quest for excellence. From the grandeur of inter-house events to the intimacy of intra-class activities, from the jubilant days of celebration to the exhilarating Inter-School Explorika competitions, every platform served as a stage where students could showcase their talents and refine their essential skills. Each activity emerged as a radiant thread, weaving together a mosaic of growth, resilience, and unparalleled achievement.
Bring it to life
Within the rich tapestry of our educational milieu, students find themselves enveloped in a myriad of opportunities to witness the transcendence of skills beyond the classroom confines. From the fervour of the Inter-Unit Sports Meet to the enchanting spectacle of the Winter Carnival, and culminating in the grandeur of the Annual Day extravaganza, each event serves as a stage for the manifestation of their prowess. Amidst the cacophony of cheers and the fervent pursuit of victory, students seamlessly demonstrate the eight essential skills. With a fervent zeal driven by an unwavering commitment to excellence, we had embarked upon this transformative odyssey and we pledge to traverse onward steadfast ensuring that our learners are prepared to navigate the complexities of the world beyond.
What's next
We strive to consolidate and build on our successes and will continue to grow our partnership with Skills Builder, and use the Toolkit to teach all 8 essential skills. Continuous Professional Development (CPD) sessions will be consistently provided to staff, ensuring they effectively utilize the modules. Dedicated periods have been strategically allotted in the academic planner to guarantee the ongoing development of essential skills. Activities have been meticulously designed with a focus on enhancing these skills, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and excellence.
