Barclays LifeSkills is a free employability programme helping equip young people with the skills, knowledge and confidence to achieve success as they progress through education and into the world of work. This suite of resources focus on career-related learning for primary school pupils, introducing them to the core transferable skills that are essential in almost all careers and industries and that also aid development inside and outside of education.
The LifeSkills core transferable skills toolkit introduces pupils to seven key skills for employment success, with each session able to be delivered flexibly as a standalone session, or as part of a series in any order. Every lesson has supporting presentation slides and includes an overview of each particular skill, an engaging practical activity, a written case study and a film case study which showcases the skill in action.
The sessions align with the Skills Builder Universal Framework, showing young people how to build essential skills for life at Impact Level 2. Through discussion prompts and activities, the resources encourage self-reflection on pupils’ existing skill-set, and get them to consider what they can do to develop them further or practise new skills that they may be less confident in.
