Careers Collective are a handpicked collective of careers consultants, coaches, mentors and trainers, hugely experienced in helping students, schools, SEN teams, businesses and organisations tackle career challenges head on.  The team design and deliver fresh, engaging courses, coaching and consultancy, delivered virtually, which reflect the needs of today’s rapidly changing jobs market, making specialist careers support more accessible than ever.

Careers Conversations is a unique virtually delivered careers education programme for adults and young people over the age of 16.  It has been designed to meet the needs of all employees and Post-16 learners who must meet the challenges of the modern recruitment space, learning environment and workplace.  Careers Collective provide the knowledge, tools and techniques for learners to:

  • Connect quickly with new people
  • Make a positive first impression
  • Make themselves heard in a group setting
  • Effectively express ideas in the workplace
  • Make meaningful small talk with colleagues
  • Take advantage of an unexpected 'micro moment' with a person of influence
  • Speak with confidence and purpose
  • Engage constructively in discussion and debate to positively shape working environments
  • Understand the rules of conversation
  • 'Read' talk to understand work culture
  • Use conversational tools to become effective communicators, in any context

Throughout the resources, the shared language of the Skills Builder Universal Framework is used to support consistency and transferability of essential skills. Skill icons draw participants’ attention to where explicit skills feature, both in the workbook which supports the learning, and in the slides used for the workshop. The programme also includes self-assessment frameworks, quizzes, questions, prompts and evaluation activities, as well as goal setting opportunities, all aligned to the Universal Framework.

Opportunities to reflect after the programme to track and quantify whether progress has been made are built into the structure of the programme; as participants progress through the 6 workshops, they will be able to check back over their progress and adjust their goals accordingly. Even if participants do not attend workshops beyond the first, they will still have been able to make progress against the specific skills included in that workshop and supported to reflect on their essential skills going forward.
