Guidance on Level 1 Employability Skills units matched to the Skills Builder Framework Employability Skills (5546) is a City & Guilds qualification which forms part of their range of Skills for Work and Life qualifications. As growing numbers of schools, colleges and employers adopt the Skills Builder Framework for essential skills, City & Guilds and the Skills Builder Partnership have worked collaboratively to map some key units from the Employability level 1 qualifications to the Framework steps.
The guide aims to support any providers who offer City & Guilds Employability Skills qualifications, and who may also use the Skills Builder Framework to recognise and benchmark learners’ skills, to see how the two knit together.
Each qualification's learning outcomes and assessment criteria have been aligned to the corresponding essential skill and step on the Skills Builder Framework.
Educators may find it helpful to identify units which focus on the essential skills and steps for learners to target. Educators can also share the additional outcomes learners are gaining through these units.
Alongside this, learners themselves can use these insights to pursue independent learning and progress their essential skills further.
