The Micro-Tyco Challenge is WildHearts’ signature programme. It embeds innovation skills and entrepreneurial mindsets across a range of organisations; from early careers to departmental teams and future leaders. Working in small teams, participants tackle a business brief, often linked to the organisations’ Sustainability Strategy, using the Micro-Tyco Method to develop innovative, business solutions. At the end of the experience they turn their project into a pitch, following the Micro-Tyco pitch structure, developing their communication, influencing and presentation skills. Participants reflect on their own essential skills development and that of their peers, ensuring the skills gained can be effectively transferred into their roles.
Participants reflect on and evaluate their essential skills prior to taking part, deciding on the top 3 skills they would like to focus on. They share this with their teammates during their team planning session, committing to creating opportunities for one another to practise the identified essential skills. They evaluate their own essential skills development at the end of the programme as well as their peers, encouraging peer-to-peer support to continue developing these skills as they conclude the programme and move back into their roles. The essential skills are mapped to each stage of the programme so participants can easily spot opportunities to practise them.
