The Big Idea Workbook is a document which allows young people to practise, develop and progress in their essential skills.
The Workbook, delivered in partnership with Dell Technologies, gives educators the opportunity to access a ‘do it yourself’ version of the hugely popular Dell Technologies ‘The Big Idea’ programme. It allows students to work through the project and develop their problem solving and creativity skills - even when a facilitated workshop is not available. The workbook can be used during lessons or tutorials, set as homework or an opportunity for independent study.
The essential skills the Workbook looks to develop are Creativity and Problem Solving. It sets young people a number of business-orientated tasks to encourage them to develop their own original solutions to complex problems. To allow them to do this, it supports learners to build their knowledge of tech environments.
There are also pointers for students to use the Skills Builder Benchmark and Launchpad tools. These help them to track their progress and build a pathway to essential skill progress in the long term.
